If you really want to get to know the Wadden area, then Mudflat walking is definitely part of it. Just a bit up to the knees in the dark gray mud and then over sandbanks and through channels to get acquainted with this beautiful area. You may even see a seal lying on a sandbank in the distance.
All this, of course, with the right clothes and shoes and always under the guidance of a guide because it can be treacherous on the Wad. You can choose from educational tours, various wanderings or walking to the Engelsmanplaat, crossing to Ameland or even the toughest tour: Schiermonnikoog. Also nice is a shorter version to Schiermonnikoog with a bit of sailing first, the Brakzandtocht. Book in advance because there is not unlimited space.
You can walk with the guides of Dijkstra's Wadlooptocht, the largest and oldest mudflat walking organization in the Netherlands. Dijkstra Wadlooptochten
In addition, there are a number of wadloop organizations so if the tour of your choice is full, you can also take a look at Wadlopen-pieterburen.nl
